After founding the Rama Lotus Yoga Centre in 1993, proprietor Robert Hay began designing a vision for a peaceful retreat center in the country specially designed for yoga retreats. Robert Hay is committed to maintaining integrity of the system of yoga and is steadfast in his commitment to serving and being a leader in the Ottawa area.
Robert Hay, M.A., is a Certified Hatha Yoga and Kundalini Yoga Instructor and a 500-hour member of the Yoga Alliance and the International Kundalini Yoga Teacher’s Association (IKYTA). Robert has been practicing yoga and meditation for over twenty years and has taught over 3,000 yoga classes, workshops, yoga retreats, private consultations and Kundalini and Hatha Yoga Teacher Training programs. Robert is a fountain of knowledge and always finds a way to teach what is needed at the right time.

Home Away From Home
Yoga Garden Retreat land is filled with pristine forest nestled in the natural beauty of the Gatineau Hills. The land invites us to gentle contemplation with it’s inherent serenity and natural beauty.
We are located only 45 minutes north of downtown Ottawa and just 15 minutes from beautiful Wakefield, QC.
Relax on a sandy beach at the edge of our semi-private lake: Petit Lac Usher. Cool off with a swim in the summer, practice yoga on Stand Up Paddle Boards, or take a tour in a canoe.
Our lacto-ovo Vegetarian Cafe is fueled by our organic vegetable garden as well as local organic farms. We eat well to be well. Our delicious and nutritious meals will ensure you glow from the inside out!
Lush gardens include a Zen Garden and Walking Meditation Garden. There are many walking/hiking trails to explore and peaceful hideaways to discover!
The Main Lodge features a geothermal radiant floor heating system for added comfort and energy efficiency. A professionally equipped open concept kitchen serves the dining room that seats 30, while our wrap around screened porch seats another 30.
Our yoga studio accomodates approximately 20 people and can be used as a corporate meeting space. A massage/spa room is available as well.
Relax in our large wood-stove sauna that seats up to 15 people.
There are 2 changerooms with beautifully tiled, floor to ceiling showers.
We have 3 beautiful winterized cabins each with their own screened porch. Cozy and quiet, you are sure to get a good night’s sleep!

There are two campgrounds on YGR’s property with large flat campsites great for pitching any sized tent.
Each campground has it’s own honeypot outhouse, central fire pit and easy access to our sandy beach and hiking trails.
At YGR we take that motto to heart, afterall, we are what we eat! We are a lacto-ovo vegetarian facility that believes in fresh, whole foods that are locally sourced when possible. Beyond eating well for ourselves, our vegetarian facility supports animals and the environment. We are fortunate to live in an area with many local organic farmers and are proud that we grow our own organic veggies as well.
